LPC license and credits

Last updated: September 23, 2026

Character sprites in Pixel Asset Generator are assembled from Liberated Pixel Cup artwork via the Universal LPC Spritesheet Character Generator. PAG does not own those pixels. You and PAG must credit the original authors.

1. What you get from PAG

When you download sprite PNGs, PAG also gives you credits.txt and credits.csv for the layers used in that character. Keep those files with the spritesheet whenever you share, ship, or publish the result.

2. How to credit

Name the authors listed for every used layer. Include a link to the original work when one is provided. If a distribution needs a single license, use the most restrictive license that applies to any included sprite.

3. Which license applies

Each LPC layer lists one or more of CC-BY 3.0, CC-BY-SA 3.0, OGA-BY 3.0, GPL 3.0, or CC0. You may pick any listed license for that individual layer. A composed sheet follows the most restrictive license among its layers. CC-BY-SA 3.0 and GPL 3.0 can require sharing derivatives under a compatible license.

4. What PAG itself credits

PAG uses the official LPC generator artwork and CREDITS.csv. The in-editor Credits panel lists authors for the current character. The download files are the copy you should keep with redistributed sprites.

5. Official sources

Read the official licensing and attribution instructions. The full catalog file is CREDITS.csv.
